Pinar Yolacan

In light of the recent GaGa meat dress hoo ha.....

Turkish artist Pinar Yolacan has been there, done that. Same goes for the British artist Linder Sterling who famously wore a dress made of raw meat onstage at the Hacienda club in Manchester. A few years ago, I made underwear out of raw meat and posed for a self-portrait. I really like some of these images by Yolacan, the way she has used the meat like fabric to make patterns and layers is quite beautiful. The posing and expression of the models reminds me of Victorian portrait painting, very severe and aristocratic.
